Grand Canyon Ultra race – dates announced

Al Andalus – Spanish Ultra Race Report

Serial ultra marathon competitor Joakim Jonsson has just completed the Spanish Al Andalus Ultra.  A 250 km race, over 5 days in extraodinary heat.  Read about the race here in Joakim’s race report.

Joakim will also be joining us once again on the Namibia Ultra Marathon in 2010 – it’s our third year and Joakim has been with us from the start.

Just back from the Iceland Ultra Marathon 09

The team have just returned from the Iceland Ultra Marathon.  Christopher Hough who also ran the race last year, not only bettered his time by an hour but was the first Bri to cross the line.   Well done Chris.   Race report to follow.

Coming up the 2009 Iceland Ultra Marathon

Across the Divide is heading out to Iceland on Thursday for the Iceland Ultra Marathon

Very tough run but a beautiful challenge and great scenery. Very good organisation; Really enjoyed it and will be back next year.” Richard, 2008 competitor.

The “Laugavegur” course is one of the most beautiful in Iceland, stretching from Landmannalaugar in the highlands to Thorsmork, a natural reservation area. The area is famous for the yellow, orange and purple hues of the surrounding mountains.

Today, Wed 6 May, at 16.35 BBC 1 Blue Peter

Yes today is the day that Blue Peter are featuring the Namibia 24 hour Ultra Marathon.   Blue Peter presenter, Helen Skelton ran the race and finished a very impressive 8th out of a field of 20 runners with only 12 finishing.  16.35 – BBC 1 don’t miss it.

News just in….Namibia 24-hr Ultra Marathon completed…

We’ve just heard from the Namibia Ultra Marathon race director Steve Clark, that everyone is now back in Swakopmund.  Steve said the race was very tough with temperatures getting up to 42 ºc.   Winner Darren Roberts was very surprised and shocked to hear he won the race but once it sunk in he was delighted.   Tom Adams very nearly caught Darren up at the finish line which made it a nail-biting finish.  Book your place on the 2010 Namibia Ultra Marathon.

Namibia 24-hr Ultra Marathon Results are as follows:

1st Place – Darren Roberts 20hr 28

2nd Place – Tom Adams 20hr 29

3rd Place – Tom Maguire 21 hr 05

4th Place – Emma Rogan 21 hr 27 – First female to complete the Namibia 24-hr Ultra Marathon

5th Place – Jerry Haywood 22 hr 30

6th Place – Nick Tidbull 23 hr 17

7th Place – Nicholas Wright 23 hr 45

8th Place – Helen Skelton 23 hr 50 – BBC Blue Peter Presenter

9th Place – Adrian Crossley, Stuart Moore, Kellie Power & Michael Skakesheff 25 hr 07.

These guys all crossed the line together holding hands, they were all just outside the 24 hour deadline but all were allowed to finish.
